ABOUT US
Established February 2003, and located just 50 miles outside of Washington, D.C., our farm mixes "old fashioned" work ethics with the new visions and ideas of the twenty-first century. Our family has been successfully farming for quite a few years. We have grown and sold market produce and products for the last five years. We are experienced in pasture management which made the addition of alpacas to our farm a natural transition. Good genetics mean nothing without proper nutrition.
Our farm is one hundred percent family owned and operated with everyone contributing to its success. While some of our fiber is sent out for processing, all of our finished products are made on the farm. When time allows, we try to make as much home spun yarn as possible.
Our philosophy on alpacas is a simple one. We love to keep company with these truly majestic animals. We love when they interact with us, but we also try not to "force" our affection on them and believe this mutual respect allows for a happier, healthier herd.
This approach is really what sets us apart from the rest! We understand that these animals have survived thousands of years without our help and that our assistance is merely to maximize their health and efficiency. Our animals are halter trained slowly, utilizing the TTEAM methods. Carl heads up this area as he has been instructing and training canines for the last nine years.
Our farm is small, but our vision is large and diverse. We keep our herd small which allows us to capitalize on our fiber uses as well as to provide you with our full commitment and support well beyond your alpaca investment.
We currently have eight animals agisted on our farm. Our clients tell us, "How happy and comforted they are knowing that their animals are well cared for." That speaks volumes, especially when one client lives 3 hours away from our farm!
